Welcome?

I've never blogged before so I'm not sure exactly what to expect.  But here goes...

My name is Lux, which is a girl's name in my case, I'm 23 years old and I've been a resident of Los Angeles for the last few years.  I am currently navigating my way through the first year of law school, rumored to be the year they bombard you with reading and test the human requirement for sleep.  I've found both rumors to be based in truth.  Now I realize this information probably belongs in the "profile" section but like I said, I've never blogged before.

I'm starting this blog now because I need some form of semi-educational entertainment.  My days are filled with abstract lectures about sticks and bundles, mens rea vs. actus reus, quasi in rem jurisdiction and 2-207 battle of the forms.  It's all gibberish to me.  My nights are filled with scouring over casebooks, building IRACs, and writing memorandums and legal briefs. Those are the worst!  If someone had told me last year when I was proposing to apply to law school, that I would hate the writing the most, I would have been in disbelief.  Writing was always my favorite subject in school.  But legal writing is not writing.  The first thing they told us on the first day of orientation was 'forget how you learned to write.'  They weren't kidding.  Legal writing is a different beast entirely.

So in conclusion, if the above made any sense at all (I've been sleep-deprived since September), I'm writing this blog so that I don't lose touch with my creative writing skills.  Hopefully I will be able to make time for this, even if it's just for a little bit of time at 2 in the morning before I go to sleep.
